I am not following.. maybe PM me please
Call me naive
I asked to leave it up there as I had no place to store before launch.
It was an easy no expense winter storage for me while the lake and ground was frozen up here
he is supposed to bring it down and launch and do a sea trial, as per agreements and paperwork.

Does your bill of sale say after a good sea trail ? Then you and him need to talk and you need to make sure you leave your emotions out of it. He can't sea trail it with a busted engine. Did you pay for all of it up front before you seen it run ? I take it you did. I see that as you only card to play.
But I'm sorry to see your boating life has started this way.

TERMS AND CONDITION AS FOLLOWS:alexander38 wrote:Does your bill of sale say after a good sea trail ? Then you and him need to talk and you need to make sure you leave your emotions out of it. 1 This offer is conditional upon a Sea trial conducted by the purchaser and/or the agent to purchaser’s satisfaction, with the boat to be in satisfactory condition in all respects.
2 The vessel and all equipment, as previously seen on the vessel or described as being part of the vessel is in place, and held safe by the vendor and /or his/her agent until final closing of the purchase and sale.
3 The purchaser has sole and absolute discretion relating to the above mentioned conditions. If the purchaser in his/her sole and absolute discretion is not satisfied with the mechanical or structural fitness, completeness or running of the boat, including the hull, the engine and the outdrive following the above mentioned sea trial he/she may terminate this agreement by notice in writing to the agent and must be refunded the deposit forthwith, in full, without interest or deduction.
I agree, emotions are checked at the door.
I am holding and crossing my fingers that it is just a cracked manifold from age, and that it is an easy fix. I am optimistic. Hoping for the best and preparing for the worse.
As I said earlier, I am committed to this boat, and willing to help bring her back up to her old glory, regardless of the time it may take. Others on here have given me inspiration.
The cup is half full.

Paul, Am I missing something here? his boat is sitting on trailer that is registered to someone else? In my eyes a truck could come in and drive away with the trailer (and boat) and you wouldn't be able to stop them.
I am not saying this is going to happen but I've heard of stranger things.
That trailer needs to be secured.

The condition on a satisfactory sea trial is the way out here, as such, it is a means to negotiate a refund of some of the purchase price to recover some of the costs you will incure for the repair. If you show you are firm on this, the owner may budge, but if he detects an emotional attachement, he may call your bluff. I'd say you have a pretty good case if it were to go to the next step. Probably not what you want to do but I'm just putting it out there so you know your rights.
I'm a little confused with respect to who is in actual possesion of the vessel. Sounds to me like the deal hasn't closed yet due to the existing condition, so technically you have not taken possesion yet right?

I will go up with him tues or weds and have a look, If there is in fact, a problem with the engine/ manifolds(s) we will need to hang on to the trailer (snicker) for a while to enable us to haul out, repair, and then relaunch to test untill this boat works to torcans satisfaction. You know, turbo, fuel injection etc.

I would think the owner/seller would fix the manifold just to finish the deal at sea trial and get the boat gone. I have found that sometimes it's better to keep my mouth shut an let things happen by themselves as long as they are going in the right direction. I can tell you like the boat and even if it cost you a little more you would still like that boat. But, as you will find out, old boats need lots of LOVE (spelled with dollar signs), but it's a hobby and a hobby is something you put money into because you enjoy it and not for investment. Days spent on a boat can't be replaced with anything else in life and like someone already said, we are here for you.

Well..update:
Rofferdave here on the forum is heading out to pick up the boat tomorrow morning with me.
He has a large enough truck that can haul it as well.
I cannot express how much gratitude I have for his help.
Surprisingly, the seller, is allowing me to hook up and use the trailer to transport it to the Yacht Club marina
Dave will go over the boat with me and the motor and check everything out.
Will keep you all informed as to the progress.
