Mine to you would think there was I ship coming at you when I hit the horn.rbcool wrote:I have air horns.... sounds like dang freight train. But God forbid if you get some seawater splashed up in them.
Closest I could find but mine is a bit deeper in tone.

Hey this one is right up my alley.....
This is the Nathan Airchime 5KLA train horn. I am trying to get my air-assisted pocket doors operational, and in the process added a new toy....
The system is 75% installed, just the wiring is left (toughest part for me)
The tank is a new 12 gallon with 3 12volt compressors to fill it.
About another 2 or 3 weeks and the work starts again on the vessel, can't wait!!!!

Great for any number of brainless twits who have no clue that a 26' single screw inboard, with a rudder that has less square footage than most '70's ties, has LIMITED MANEUVERABILITY!!

"Basket Case" came with an Air Horn, compressor and air storage tank that weighs more than the friggin boat. I would like to pull that monster and either replace the old hardware with a newer smaller, lighter compressor setup that will still blow the horn or dump the air horns altogether and go electric. Anyone have any suggestions?

air horn option
My previous boat had a great air horn with air pig set up- it worked well. I simply recharged the storage tank occasionally - this worked well. This does away with having a dedicated compressor to recharge.
Raises another (survey) question- how often do you using the horn?

Every time I back out of my slip. It pisses out the sailboaters they come running topside to see what's going on.

Amazing! I would get kicked out of the marina for having that on my boat!

So I finally got my horns operational.
This system consists of :
12 gallon air tank, with 200psi of air pressure, run through 5/8 OD brake tubing into the K5la train horn...

Here is a quick video, this one I fire the horn with 181psi in the tank...

This one is full capacity just over 200psi, and I basically dump the entire tank out...

This horn is the best toy on the boat, next step, gettng those air pocket doors working...
