If you really want some nice, accurate gauges. (marine dunno) but the Spek pro gauges as used by nascar are the ticket, However one might need a government bailout to afford them.

I don't want a "cheap" set, but I also need to be realistic. My credit card is starting to melt alittle already! I was really trying to find out what to avoid just as much as what works. Sounds like if i stick to the well know manufactures I should be ok. Now its time to start looking for sales! Thanks everyone!

I knew you were going to see those and like them.
I like them too, and if I ever decide to install new gauges those will probably be the ones.

You like those huh Jeff? They got your rudder angle indicator there too. Its real hard to beat VDO. I have always had good luck with thier stuff. My Mercedes all have stock VDO in them too.

Could be VDO offers a lot of styles , one thing to watch on VDO the gages us 2 different type senders ( different ohm range ) you have to match them . also if you have upper and lower gages then it take a sender made for duel gages . ( true on all brands )Commissionpoint wrote:How old are yours Paul? Maybe these are just the latest incarnation of what you have?

There is a person on this site from Michigan just across the pond from me who re-did his F28 Flybridge dash . . .
and it is simply stunning. It is worthy of a marine architectural award.
I have shown the pics of his dash to many Trojan people.
Depending on cash flow - I am thinking of re-doing my flybridge and lower helm to replicate the other guy's stunning work.
But I have already decided - I dont need all those gauges on my flybridge - I need RPMs, oil pressure, and engine temp. If I want to know fuel or volts, I can go downstairs.
So I am curious - what does it cost to replace the gauges?
And then the stupid question - if I buy new gauges can I plug them into the old existing wiring? If I have to rewire, well then I must say, I like my old gauges!!!!! I have an electrician friend, but I'd rather save him for my 1920s vintage condo!!

Dave , you can use your wiring but the senders on the engine need to match the gages so . you may need to replace them also . Also a different sender is used for dual stations . I would still put a volt gage up top , it will give you the first waring of a broken belt , before the engine over heats . My boat has no fuel gage up top , but its no big deal .
