Experience is what it looks like to me. His keel, shallow or deep, helped a lot too. If you notice, he's on the power and he's coming through the opening channel, keeping steerage and his track going with the timing of the waves. Very cool.
I wouldn't be doing that in my 32.

Ditto that....and it is always good to know your skill level in case bad conditions arise quickly.Wes wrote:Doesn't look like a fun time to be out but then again mother nature can be rather nasty and sneaky at times. You have to be ready for just about anything. I know we've been caught a few times and I learned that our Trojan can take a lot more than I ever want to.

Good + lucky. Those rocks were too close for me!
Did better than the Water Dog coming in Jupiter Inlet:

And no - you could not do that in an F32 - it would roll on you in a second. The F32 is the worst boat I've ever been on in a follow sea ... very wide and flat.

Damn Blowboaters!!!!!! Always gotta be center of attention.
When you can't make them see the light, make them feel the heat.

rossjo,
my goal is not to offend. But what is your point with the video?? I'm sure you know that Water Dog was a very well designed vessel with a very good captain who spent years going through that inlet.
You also must know that fall killed him.
Poor taste in my opion.
To each his own. I think this internet has de-sensitized us.

The video shows How things can turn bad fast , sadly the Captain did lose his life . The Mate was able to get on the bridge and get control of the boat . Inlets can be very dangerous even to the best of boats with the best of captains . never ever take things for granted . I don't think its in bad taste as it makes you think about what can happen.

Sorry it offended you. No offense meant. Don't see you post on here much, so not sure if you're upset or what.Rnd wrote:rossjo,

If you run the inlets, its a good lesson. You can get in trouble no matter how many times you've been through them. If you'll look back, you'll see that I have feelings for Captain Tom Henry (died Sep 3, 2010) and his family's loss. I've lost several friends to the ocean, dirt bikes, cars, cancer, etc. - so we mourn their loss, but can always learn.
I do look forward to your cheerful, helpful, fun posts in the future.
